Q: Do I have to change banks to use HSBC for my card processing?
A: No, this is a card processing service and is completely separate to business banking so there is no need to change banks. The benefit of banking with HSBC as well as doing your card processing with them is that payments get into your account quicker. Plus if you do switch your banking to HSBC they will give you 3 months terminal rental free.
Q: How long does it take for HSBC to set-up my card processing facility?
A: We generally advise retailers to expect their service to be up and
running within 3 - 5 weeks, often it happens quicker than this but
because its so important to your business we suggest you allow plenty of
time. Afterall there's money involved! HSBC will need to conduct a site survey of your premises before the facility is set-up.
Q: How and when can I negotiate lower rates with HSBC?
A: If your credit card turnover is in excess of £300,000 per year you may be able to negotiate lower rates. We don't publish these rates because it is done on an individual basis depending upon your turnover, sales volumes and average transaction values plus the amount of customer not present sales.
